Astigmatism is a common eyesight issue that's caused by the cornea and/or lens of the eye being lopsided or misshapen. It is usually accompanied with Myopia and/or Hyperopia.

Dr Elliott Forrest, Optometrist and Researcher, found after a 4 year study that Astigmatism is an imbalance in the extraocular muscles caused by ingrained habits that disturb the natural relationship between eye motion, head motion and posture. Forest concluded that many cases of astigmatism are functional.
